Ostrów Tumski - the oldest historic part of Wrocław, which was established on the then island on the Oder River crossing area near the mouth of the river Oława.
The river, splitting into numerous branches, has formed islands here (in Old Polish: ostrowy). Nowadays Ostrów Tumski is no longer an island.
